Extended summarizing conclusions of an essay in preparation

“Philosophical Imaginations:

Is our physical world an illusion, based on Soul-experienced virtual reality?”

 “Is our physical world an illusion, based on  Soul-experienced virtual reality?” is the title and subject of this essay. In the first instance, one could question whether our physical world is a simulation or virtual reality at all (omitting “Soul-experienced”). We realize that the simulation hypothesis doesn’t arrive at a falsifiable prediction. But we have already computers running all kinds of sophisticated simulations. Also, the progress of AI and the increasingly more powerful computers in our modern society enable and foster virtual and real reality more and more to intertwine; extending this tendency makes physical reality as a simulation continually more thinkable.   Our working procedure is to assume in advance that our physical world is a virtual reality and then, based on this assumption, discuss that our physical world as a Soul-experienced virtual reality could well be conceivable.

Our philosophy is a kind of post-materialist theory, telling us that our physical world is not based on matter but on experience. In our case, Experience of the eternal and immutable Soul. In the following, we present point by point the concluding mainlines of our philosophy.

  1. “All there is” (spiritual or physical, such as our immense universe) originates from an eternal, immutable, and infinitely compressed “Spiritual Singularity” (could also be indicated as “Heaven”) and fully(!) takes place in this Spiritual Singularity!
  2. The “Spiritual Singularity” can be imagined as a “point” of Consciousness with infinite density/intensity and infinite depth; in other words, a point of infinite Consciousness.
  3. All so-called “realities” are virtual(!), except for the “Spiritual Singularity”(including its substantial Entities) which is the only real(!) Reality (therefore our previous statement that everything, but absolutely everything, takes place in this Spiritual Singularity!). Through its included substantial Entities, the “AllSoul” (Infinite Consciousness), “AllSpirit” (All-Embracing Plan), “AllReality” with its inner Experiencer the “AllGod”, it indeed possesses the “ingredients” needed for the “realization” of the virtual spiritual Realities and virtual physical realities.
  4. The mentioned four Entities, that form the content of the “Spiritual Singularity”, are equal(!) but distinguishable in their meaning (this is crucial in our theory!). Since the “Spiritual Singularity” is real, eternal, and immutable, also the constituent Entities are each real, eternal, and immutable. 
  5. As regards the relational meaning of the Entities in the “Spiritual Singularity”, the following applies here: the “AllSoul” experiences the “All-Embracing Plan” (All Spirit) as “AllReality” (including its inner Experiencer, the “AllGod”).
  6. In our theory, the “AllGod” is the inner Experiencer of but also equal to the “AllReality” in the “Spiritual Singularity”. In this respect, we see the AllGod as an extreme extension of the God of Baruch Spinoza. Moreover, the AllGod reflects the Divine Trinity {AllSoul,  AllSpirit, AllReality}, which represents essentially “all there is”. 
  7. The “AllSpirit” (All-Embracing Plan) is the most fundamental of the four constituent Entities in the “Spiritual Singularity”. The All-Embracing Plan is an infinite set of spiritual relations: “top-down spiritual relations” (as regards the virtual spiritual(!) Reality) and an infinite set of corresponding "bottom-up spiritual relations” (as regards the virtual physical(!) reality). The entire virtual Reality consists of a virtual spiritual Reality and a virtual physical reality.
  8. Everything, be it spiritual or physical, is in deepest essence Spirit, and based on the aforementioned spiritual realities. Because of the equality of AllSoul, AllSpirit, AllReality, and AllGod, they all are represented by the same set of spiritual relations with however distinguishable meanings.
  9. Rules and laws in the virtual physical(!) reality, such as physical and evolutionary, have their conceptual origin in the switching from top-down to corresponding bottom-up spiritual relations, in other words from spiritual to physical. The virtual spiritual(!) Reality is thought to be ruleless and lawless.
  10. Through an eternal (timeless) “Process of Emanation”, the AllSoul diverges in infinitely many mutually integrated “aspects of Consciousness” (called “Souls”), with a trend of a continually decreasing level of Consciousness. The phrase “eternal process” might be confusing; in our philosophy, it reflects a “state of eternal immutable being”, which has always been and always will be, without beginning and without end. Also the term “integrated aspect” needs a clarification. In our theory, “B is an aspect of A" means that A “sees” itself on another level as B; so, B is A, but on another level; B is integrated in A or A integrates B.
  11. The Soul as an integrated aspect of the real, eternal, and immutable AllSoul, is also real, eternal, and immutable. The Soul’s eternal Experience represents a “state of eternal immutable being”, just like the “Process of Emanation”.
  12. We define a Soul (a lower-order aspect of the “AllSoul”) as an Experience of a related Plan (a lower-order aspect of the “All-Embracing Plan”) as if(!) this Plan, consisting of top-down or bottom-up spiritual relations, is respectively spiritual Reality or physical reality (lower-order aspects of the “AllReality”). So, both the virtual spiritual Reality and virtual physical reality are Soul Experience; we speak of “Soul-experienced virtual spiritual Reality” and “Soul-experienced virtual physical reality”. Both virtual Realities are essentially and purely Soul Experiences.
  13. Since the Entities “AllSoul”, “All Spirit”, “AllReality” and “AllGod” are equal in the “Spiritual Singularity, their lower-order aspects are assumed to be correlated. For instance, as an illustrative example, the Soul experiences its correlated Plan as a correlated virtual physical reality; in other words, the Soul experiences its own dedicated Plan as its own dedicated virtual physical reality..
  14. We regard the emanated Souls as the “neurons of a Divine Brain” in which, through an eternal (timeless) “Process of Consciousness”, Consciousness is built up to Infinite Consciousness (AllSoul). Although the same “state of eternal immutable being”, the “Process of Consciousness” is in its meaning the reverse of the “Process of Emanation”.
  15. A threatening (local) stagnation in the initial phase of the “Process of Consciousness”, because of the Soul’s insufficient 4-dimensional Consciousness at this extremely low level of Consciousness, forces the Soul to take a side road in the “Process of Consciousness”. On the side road the Soul Experience concerns a virtual sequential physical reality, in contrast to the virtual parallel spiritual Reality as experienced on the main road of the “Process of Consciousness”. In the first instance, one could think that the Soul transits from the main road to the side road. However, because of the Soul’s eternity and immutability, the Soul has always been and will always be on the side road; actually, it is on both the main and side road, for all eternity, without beginning and end.
  16. The eternal Soul’s Experience on the side road should enable an eternal avoidance of (local) stagnation and an eternal gaining of a little (more) 4-dimensional Consciousness (locally) on the main road of the “Process of Consciousness”. (The underlying mechanism is discussed further on in the text, the conclusion point starting with //.) So, an eternal Soul-experienced virtual physical(!) reality (on the side road) exists in addition to an eternal Soul-experienced virtual spiritual(!) Reality (on the main road).
  17. Both the Soul-experienced virtual spiritual(!) Reality and the Soul-experienced virtual physical(!) reality encompass virtual Entities, that experience their virtual world and virtual themselves illusorily(!) as objectively real. (Compare this with our own “virtual me” in a human-made virtual reality, in case we close ourselves mentally completely off from our physical world and we are mentally fully absorbed in the virtual reality, so that our “virtual me” experiences this virtual world, including its virtual self, as real.)
  18. The Entities mentioned above (in their illusorily real shape!) are called respectively “spiritual Beings” and “human beings”. In truth, they are of course Soul-experienced virtual spiritual Beings and Soul-experienced virtual human beings. In our philosophy, the “spiritual Beings” and “human beings” are actually virtual “aspects” of the real AllGod as Experiencer of the real AllReality in the “Spiritual Singularity”!
  19. With a view to the (illusory real) human beings, we speak of a “human-experienced physical reality”, that we humans illusorily(!) experience as objectively real. This is the physical world in which we humans feel to be born, to live (with joy and sadness), to think, to have our ideas and emotions, and finally to die. An example of existing ideas is the “Soul’s incarnation” (at a certain time before the human’s birth) and “excarnation” (at a certain time after the human’s death). Perhaps redundantly, we emphasize again that the “human-experienced physical reality” is essentially based on and inseparably linked with the “Soul-experienced virtual(!) physical reality”. (Note: we make a clear distinction between “virtual“ and “illusory”; the illusory human has the internal doubtless feeling to live in an objectively real physical world, without having the slightest idea that actually his/her world is virtual)
  20. The “human-experienced physical reality” is an illusion. It is not materialistic and not based on matter (as we humans think it is), but based on Soul Consciousness (Experience) and at a still deeper level on Divine Spirit! We should emphasize here that this “Soul Consciousness” doesn’t only reflect quantitative aspects (dominated by arithmetic numbers) but also qualitative aspects, such as feelings of good, bad, beautiful, ugly, smelling nice, tasting good, etc.
  21. // An intriguing question is what the mechanism is behind the (local) avoidance of stagnation on the main road of the “Process of Consciousness”, through the Soul’s eternal presence on both the main and side road. On the side road, the Soul experiences its corresponding virtual human in a virtual physical(!) reality, and ultimately its corresponding human in a “human-experienced physical reality”. At the human’s death in this “human-experienced physical world”, a Soul’s retrospection of the finished human life (with time and space filtered out) provides exactly the information that in the “Soul-experienced virtual spiritual(!) reality” avoids the local stagnation on the main road of the “Process of Consciousness”. Moreover, the Soul gains a little (more) 4-dimensional Consciousness locally(!) on the main road of the “Process of Consciousness”.
  22. The above locality on the main road of the “Process of Consciousness” concerns the very initial phase of this Process. Further on in the text, in the point of conclusion starting with ///, we  explain that from this initial phase on, upwards in the “Process of Consciousness” the side road procedure is repeated many times in order to cover the entire side road.
  23. Because of the eternity of the Soul, the afore-described mechanism (after all, a Soul’s Experience!) is also eternal. Consequently, the Soul’s retrospection of the human life, and therefore also the avoidance of local stagnation and the local gaining of a little more 4-dimensional Consciousness, are eternal. They have always been and always will be, without beginning and end. We consider the described mechanism, in relation with the “Soul-experienced virtual physical(!) reality” and its inseparable “human-experienced physical(!) reality”, as a condition for the eternal “Process of Consciousness” and of course for the eternal ”Spiritual Singularity”(in other words, for “all there is”). This also may clarify the very purpose and the “why” of us humans.
  24. The information gained by the Soul’s retrospection of the human life in the “human-experienced physical(!) reality” (on the side road), and “injected via the same Soul” into the “Spiritual Being-experienced spiritual(!) Reality” (on the main road), means that both (illusory real) Realities are each other counterparts. Consequently, the “spiritual Being” and corresponding ”human being”, who both experience their virtual Realities including their virtual themselves illusorily as objectively real(!), are each other counterparts too. The “spiritual Being” concerned is in our theory called the  “Astral Being”. So, the “Astral Being” and corresponding “human being” are each other counterparts! The “human being” is however doomed to die in his (illusorily real) physical reality, whereas the “astral Being” is eternal in its (illusorily rea) spiritual Reality! (Further on in the text, we will discuss that in a way also the human being and its “human-experienced physical reality” are eternal, as strange as this sounds at this place!)
  25. We repeat our earlier statement that the “Soul-experienced virtual physical reality” and so the “human-experienced physical reality” are based on “bottom-up spiritual relations”, which in our theory are assumed to be subdivided into layers of “bottom-up spiritual relations”. Compare this with software relations in computer programs.
  26. The upper layer is most relevant and important. Imposed by the All-Embracing Plan, in this layer the bottom-up spiritual relations are interpreted by the Soul as physical relations. The upper layer contains the bottom-up spiritual relations that determine the “human-experienced physical reality” in the human-experienced past, present, and future. The lower layers (each of which has its impact on the layers higher up and finally on the upper layer!) contain the spiritual relations that, through their impact in the upper layer, determine the human-experienced (theoretical and material) physical findings about an evolutionary past. However ….., the “human-experienced physical reality” is an illusion, and its evolution is an illusion within this illusion of physical reality.
  27. Importantly, in all layers of bottom-up spiritual relations many so-called “black spiritual relations” are present. Black spiritual relations are relations that are not yet interpreted by the Soul to be physically manifest in the upper layer (because of the still too-low level of Consciousness). As the level of Consciousness in the eternal “Process of Consciousness” grows (i.e., as we consider higher and higher levels in the “eternal state of being”, which the “Process of Consciousness” actually is!), more and more black spiritual relations become white (this could be seen as an eternal process of whitening black bottom-up spiritual relations upwards along the “Process of Consciousness”).
  28. The whitening of black bottom-up spiritual relations, as the consequence of increasing Consciousness, is the actual mechanism through which in the “human-experienced physical world” over time more and more scientific insight (theoretical and experimental) is gained about our physical world and its evolutionary past. In this respect, we could comparatively think of the scientifically assumed existence of “black matter” and “black energy”, which essentially are physical examples of “black spiritual relations”.
  29. Speaking of “scientific”, science/scientific research is regarded in our philosophy as the Soul’s Experience of investigating bottom-up spiritual relations in their physical meaning, especially those in the lower and lowest layers (which manifest themselves physically to us humans, in particular the scientists, in the upper layer). In this respect, we repeat once again that the bottom-up spiritual relations on the side road of the “Process of Consciousness” are interpreted by the Soul (and so by the humans in the illusory “human-experienced physical reality”) in the upper layer as physical relations.
  30. We are personally convinced that the mysterious conceptual origin of “life” and “consciousness” (experience) shall never be completely understood and explained in science; in our opinion, it is beyond the scope of science! Human pataphysical imagination might provide the possibility to gain some insight into these mysteries. In our philosophy, “life” and “Consciousness” originate conceptually from respectively the AllSpirit (All-Embracing Plan) and AllSoul (Infinite Consciousness) in the “Spiritual Singularity”. (The AllSoul experiences the All-Embracing Plan; this All-Embracing Plan includes inherently the capacity(!) to be experienced. This could well be the essential conceptual origin of “life”.)
  31. Before the humans (we mean here the “civilization men”, for we don’t believe in a divine manifestation in lower-order humanoids) there was, of course, no “human-experienced physical reality”. That we nevertheless find and have found for instance skeletons of dinosaurs, is explained by the consistent impact of the concerning lower-layer bottom-up spiritual relations on spiritual relations in the upper layer. In the “human-experienced physical reality”, this makes us humans believe and take for sure that indeed dinosaurs have lived in the far evolutionary past, and makes us find their skeletons as well (a result of the whitening of certain dark spiritual relations in lower layers and its (whitening) effect in the upper layer, provided the Consciousness has the sufficient level).
  32. As said (twelve points of conclusion earlier), the “human-experienced physical reality” is an illusion. Based on the oldest human civilization (Sumerian civilization), we estimate the age of the “human-experienced physical reality” at about 6000 years (this corresponds with biblical statements).  The evolution(!) of the “human-experienced physical reality” is an illusion within the illusion of this physical reality; based on science (in our theory the Soul’s investigation of among others the lowest bottom-up spiritual relations in their physical meaning), its beginning was 13.8 billion years ago.
  33. /// The missing of sufficient 4-dimensional Consciousness of the Souls, in the very initial phase of the “Process of Consciousness”, was our reason for introducing a side road to avoid local stagnation on the main road of the “Process of Consciousness”. Upwards along the eternal “Process of Consciousness”, the side road procedure is repeated again and again, many times. Consequently, upwards along the main road of the  “Process of Consciousness” the 4-dimensional Consciousness of the Soul grows continually, up to the level that the side road is not needed anymore. Above this level of Consciousness, there is no “Soul-experienced virtual physical reality” and therefore no “human-experienced physical reality” anymore. In the first instance, one could think of the end of the “human-experienced physical reality” and the disappearance of human-experienced physical time. 
  34. However, the “Soul-experienced virtual physical reality”, and so the “human-experienced physical reality”, is eternal (of course in the appropriate range of levels of Consciousness). The question now is, how must eternity be understood in the illusory time-bound “human-experienced physical reality”? How must the eternity of a mortal human being in the “human-experienced physical reality” be understood? How should the eternity of “a period of human life followed by a period of “nothing” after human death in the “human-experienced physical reality” be understood? In our philosophy, eternity has in this case the meaning that the whole “human-experienced physical reality” starts all over again. This is repeated again and again, for all eternity. 
  35. The “Soul-experienced virtual physical reality” and the inseparably linked “human-experienced physical reality” have always been and will always be, for all eternity, without beginning and end. We speak of an eternally ongoing sequence of “cycles of existence” of the “human-experienced physical reality”. The life that we humans live now has already been lived infinitely many times and still will be lived infinitely times more; each time exactly the same life in exactly the same physical circumstances because of the Soul’s immutability. (Note: the “cycles of existence” should not be confused with human-thought (but in our theory non-existent) Souls’ reincarnations; any “cycle of existence” contains many incarnations of many Souls.)
  36. We have previously introduced the so-called “Astral Being” (see twelve points of conclusion earlier). The “Astral Being” and related “human being” are each other counterparts. The Soul experiences its corresponding human being in his/her “human-experienced physical reality” (on the side road of the “Process of Consciousness”), but also its corresponding “Astral Being” in the “Astral-Being-experienced spiritual Reality” (on the main road of the “Process of Consciousness”). The “Astral Being” is of course not experienced in the “human-experienced physical reality”.
  37. When in any “cycle of existence” of the “human-experienced physical reality” a human dies, the corresponding Soul experiences on the foreground its eternal “Astral Being” in the eternal counterpart of the “Soul-experienced virtual physical(!) reality” in question (that is to say, the corresponding eternal “Soul-experienced virtual spiritual(!) Reality”). In the latter, the Soul experiences ultimately its real “Astral Being” in a real spiritual Reality, albeit illusorily! The restrictions of and suffering in the “human-experienced physical reality” aren’t experienced anymore in the Soul. In the next “cycle of existence” the Soul’s experience switches on the foreground again back to the human being in the “human-experienced physical reality”!
  38. According to our philosophy, absolutely everything is eternal and immutable. In the “human-experienced physical reality”, this is expressed in the eternal sequence of “cycles of existence”, which substantially are, down to the very slightest detail, always exactly the same. The human life follows herewith its immutable Plan (an aspect of the All-Embracing Plan) that is correlated to the corresponding Soul. We estimate the length of a “cycle of existence” at about 10.000 years, based on our opinion that we are over halfway in the current cycle.
  39. Except for the aforementioned eternity and immutability, everything is also dominated by “oneness”. In the “human-experienced physical reality”, this is for instance expressed by the human’s being one with nature and with fellow humans (just like the “AllGod” being equal to the “AllReality” in the “Spiritual Singularity” and based on the unifying mutual integration of Souls). If we humans harm nature or fellow humans, we harm ourselves; we have seen this in many painful human experiences in the past and present  of the ”human-experienced physical reality”!
  40. Extremely surprisingly, a considerable number of so-called “synchronicities” (meaningful coincidences, discovered and described by Carl Jung) cover mainlines of our philosophy, such as the “Process of Emanation” and the “Process of Consciousness”. With a view to the infinite Intelligence of the All-Embracing Plan (All Spirit) in the “Spiritual Singularity”, we are inclined to see this cautiously as a kind of evidence.
  41. Finally, as a last point, we would like to repeat the very first of the above points of conclusion, saying that “all there is”, and absolutely “all there is”, originates and happens in the real (so non-virtual) infinitely dense  “Spiritual Singularity” (“Heaven”). In the “human-experienced physical reality”, physically everything originates, according to science, from an infinitely dense  “physical singularity”, called the “Bing Bang”. We see the “Big Bang” in its shape of physical singularity as the physical interpretation of the “Spiritual Singularity” (say, Heaven). Clearly, the whole set of conclusions above is actually our compilation of Heaven (see also Fig.1)! With reference to the well-known eponymous 1992 novel by the Dutch writer Harry Mulisch, this essay could well be indicated as the author’s “the Discovery of Heaven”.

 

We hope that post-materialist theories in general might be a stimulus for scientists to include spirituality and spiritual experiences in their research. Spirituality involves the feeling or belief that there is something greater than ourselves, that the greater whole, which we are part of, is cosmic or divine. Spirituality includes any experience that brings us into contact with the divine. To finish, we emphasize that our philosophy is not at all questioning the practically needed and very valuable activities in science, scientific research, engineering, and technology. On the contrary! Our philosophy might only sketch an underlying “Truth”.
